An interline agreement has been signed between British Airways and CemAir, a South African airline

In order to maintain its position as the main European carrier to South Africa, British Airways has signed an interline arrangement with CemAir of South Africa. With British Airways joining CemAir's growing network of interline partners, this partnership enables travellers to reach a wider variety of destinations in the area.

South Africa, one of the most popular travel destinations in Africa, has a lot to offer. This alliance makes it easier for passengers to continue on to other destinations in CemAir's network, which is especially well-liked by British tourists. Travellers can benefit from the ease of a single-ticket itinerary that includes baggage transfer, departing from Cape Town International Airport (CPT) and Johannesburg OR Tambo (JNB). Accessible locations include Bloemfontein, Kimberly, Margate, Durban, Hoedspruit, Plettenberg Bay, and George in South Africa; also, Maun in Botswana and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe can be reached with ease.

Neil Chernoff, Director of Network and Alliances at British Airways, expressed excitement about the partnership saying, "We're excited to launch this new interline agreement with CemAir, giving customers more options when travelling within South Africa." For travellers who wish to extend their trip plans and explore more of the nation, this is welcome news."

Customers of CemAir can reciprocally easily connect to a variety of locations across British Airways' vast international network, providing more convenience and financial savings. Miles van der Molen, CEO of CemAir, emphasised the value of working with British Airways, a company renowned for "quality and elegance." Partnerships, especially with industry giants like as British Airways, he stressed, are essential to success in the post-COVID recovery phase.

The largest capacity between South Africa and Europe is now provided by British Airways, which offers flights from London's Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW) airports to Johannesburg and Cape Town. Regional airline CemAir, based in Johannesburg, now operates flights to 11 local and 3 international locations, with intentions to grow. The airline has interline agreements in place with other major carriers and has a diverse fleet of 27 aircraft.

CemAir increased its reach in August when it began operating flights from Johannesburg to Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls. Beginning on March 21, the airline will expand its footprint in Zimbabwe by offering flights to the country's main airport, Harare RG Mugabe International Airport (HRE). Furthermore, starting on April 7, CemAir will begin offering flights from East London to Johannesburg as part of its domestic network expansion.
