Unveiling its In-Flight Dining Business, Emirates Serves 77 Million Meals Per Year

Emirates, the largest Airbus A380 operator in the world, moves quickly, preparing 149 meals every minute. This equates to an astounding 215,000 meals per day throughout its 499 daily flights, eventually serving 77 million consumers annually. 1400 committed cooks who are stationed at Emirates' flight catering facility in Dubai as well as with its catering partners worldwide, have made this incredible accomplishment possible.

A staggering 6 million kg of fresh chicken, 350,000 kg of beef, 266,000 kg of Atlantic salmon fillets, and 1.7 million kg of pasteurised eggs were provided by Emirates each year. 10,350 kg of caviar were consumed by first-class passengers, while 1.2 million steaks of beef tenderloin were eaten by business-class passengers.

Options for Vegetarians:

Along with 3.1 million kg of freshly baked bread and pastries, 2.2 million kg of whole potatoes, 42,000 kg of salads, 32,000 kg of Masala cashew nuts, and 98,000 kg of fresh strawberries, the airline also catered to vegetarian and vegan needs.

Dairy Treats:

Emirates used 938,000 kg of fresh cream, including special products such as yoghourt from Killowen Farm in Ireland and ice cream from Marshfield's in the UK. Additionally, first and business class guests savoured 14,000 kilograms of Australian Yarra Valley feta cheese.

Finishing Off:

40 million pieces of gourmet chocolate, 2 million mixed-nut packages, 70,300 kg of ground coffee, 2.3 million teabags, and 1.2 million litres of orange juice were used by passengers annually.

Accepting Sustainability:

Emirates, following other top airlines, started allowing business class guests to pre-order food in an effort to reduce food wastage and promote sustainability. This program reduces the likelihood of food being thrown away while guaranteeing passengers receive their favourite meals.
