Hawaiian Airlines recently announced plans to enhance the frequency of its flights between Los Angeles International (LAX) and Honolulu (HNL), among other destinations. From May 24 to September 2, the airline will add a fourth daily service on the HNL-LAX route using its fleet of twelve Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Notably, the statement from January 22 stated that the flagship Boeing 787-9 will be used on a few flights between LAX and HNL. Hawaiian Airlines' Boeing 787-9 is scheduled to operate 617 flights on the LAX-HNL route between April 15, 2024, and October 1, 2024, according to schedule data provided by Cirium. Dreamliner is scheduled to launch in mid-May, with flights between San Francisco International (SFO) and Hanoi (HNL) scheduled to depart from April 15 to May 14. During this time, there will also be 787-9 trips to Phoenix (PHX). Furthermore, a new route between LAX and Kahului Airport (OGG) on Maui is planned to begin operation on September 8 and run through October 1, 2024, potentially longer.
Hawaiian Airlines' 787-9 aircraft will have wood paneling, electronically dimmable windows, a unique color scheme and 30 completely lie-flat first-class seats, offering a distinctive travel experience for the 300-seat Dreamliner. Alaska Air Group will be the first to provide lie-flat seating if its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines is approved by regulators and shareholders.
